| The city of Zadar was founded at the Roman period. First time mentioned in the 4th century before Christ, it became a Roman colony at the age of emperor August. Through the Middle-Ages Zadar became a capital of Dalmatia and archbishop's residence. Its historical centre still keeps the Roman urban structure, and has a numerous monuments from the Middle-Ages and Renaissance. | ||
